A hit is a hit. Fog of war, and all that. The rudder casualty limited BISMARK’s ability to turn, so she ran (North, I think?) in a straight line. This made it easier to finish her off.
With any ship, If you hit tte screws, she’s DIW (Dead In the Water). Much worse.

Actually the Bismarck couldn’t stop the turn. It was running in a continuous circle until the Royal Navy caught up and sank it.
