re: #129 Nevergiveup

Yeah that is what we’ve been hearing but I am not so sure. Yeah, they like our culture, songs. cloths, iphones, but that doesn’t necessarily translate into political support. I’ll believe they are Pro- American when I see it.

The educated youth tilt western. They are really fed up with the mad mullahs.

There is a number of factors mitigating against uprising.
The culture of inshallah, it goes beyond religion it’s a cultural phenomena even among more western looking individuals. The “fearful, fatalistic apathy” in Churchill’s words. It’s hard to get large groups of people to take serious action against the status quo when embedded in the culture is this fatalistic belief.

The Mad Mullahs do really have a tight grip. They’ve taken a page from the Chinese and the real enforcers of the Pasadran are from the rural areas and more uneducated and willing to follow orders.

The young generation whats a reasonable chance of success, they don’t want to start something and fail, and end up up against a wall or at the end of a rope. If they had the unwavering support of the west, Europe and the US they’d be more likely to try.
