I think 5.5 drives used same ribbon as a 3.25 drive, so theoretically you can still hook it up to your mobo if you can find one. I would be curios to find out if your dad’s floppies are still readable, I found that most 1.4mb floppies shed their magnetic coating after a few years and became unreadable.
