Perhaps. It’s not impossible. I find it hard to refute any of what you say there… Barring 5-6 bucks a gallon, I think he will clean Romney’s electoral clock.

I went ahead and plugged the states from the RCP map aggcobb posted a link to into the 270towin map, then went ahead and turned all the “up-for-grabs” states as blue. If Obama takes them in a clean sweep, which I don’t believe will be the case but is always plausible, then Romney’s in for one hell of a bad night Election Day.

It’s a serious amount of ground that Romney has to make up between now and November. I’m not entirely sure he can do it, but I’ve come to realize that nothing is certain this early in an election.
