I don’t think that whoever is ahead a year before the convention has ever really mattered. I’m pretty sure McCain was lucky if he had like 2% support this time last election.

Still… The fact that the leading candidate is going on TV and basically parroting crap, that 20 years ago would have been back page news in a Conspiracy Theorists’ newsletter that had 25 subscribers, is troubling regardless of the timing of the primary season.
