Because the money the religious right gave to SGK over the last few days had nothing to do with the goal of fighting breast cancer, wasn’t genuine support of the mission, and would not have continued. These donations were one time only statements of “fuck you” to Planned Parenthood, and now they’re pissed of that they didn’t get what they thought they were paying for.

The legalese in their “apology,” along with inside statements about their board, makes it pretty apparent that the “victory” is still there, just that Komen won’t be vocal about it anymore. They’ll now proceed to quietly kill funding to PP by finding various and sundry reasons to kill every grant application sent by them, which will take months to become apparent, by which time Komen will have worked on some means to repair the damage this whole incident wrought.
