The government in the UK can close down a paper if it really wants too. It can censor the news broadcasts. They have many of the same rights we do here, but they don’t have an individual’s right in mind all the time like here. The UK government can delve into someone’s private life much more than here. They have a Big Brother camera system set up were most of the inhabited parts of the country are under video surveillance. And, newer technologies allow these cameras to be interactive now. I remember reading about a guy in a park that was littering or doing some other stupid behavior. They guy monitoring the camera sent a message out telling him to stop. Can you imagine that here? That is scary!

We’d have people shooting the cameras after an episode like that.
If they used it to nab a terrorist or a serial killer, no one would complain, but if someone were stopped from littering, we’d hear all about 27 8x10 color glossy pictures with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what everything was and how it was to be used as evidence…
