re: #208 Killgore Trout

In Glenn Reynolds’ original demand for an apology…

It a common excuse we’ve seen from supporters of the BNP and VB; They pretend to not understand what fascism is because the allegation has been made too many times previously. The Right has been furiously trying to deprive racism of meaning so they can engage in it at will and feel impervious. We’ve seen this before.

He’s deflecting the issue. Rather than confront the intent of brought him to this he’s managed to turn this into his own personal martyr play. No one even called him a racist.

Seems odd that this has been such a common theme: racism. Odd in that instead of accepting the presence of racism they see the opposite. It’s odd too that instead of defending themselves on principle or reversing their view on principle; they instead do so for their own personal political gain.

On this specific case, how can they not see the racist subtext of the image in question. They have lowered Obama into the likeness of a Jim Crow era black man shining the shoes of his culturally superior (as they see it and in fact many see it as racially superior, i.e. the racists) white woman, Sarah Palin.
