That’s a pretty stupid quote since businesses make decisions that impact all of us.

Businesses have, for a very long time, acted as micro-governments when given the opportunity. Coal mining in the Appalachians, for example, or pretty much all the agriculture in South and Central America. Companies with private armies, no less. Both in her lifetime and today, there are large and small businesses that use intimidation and violence to keep their workforce in place.

But the basis of Rand’s thinking is an artificial distinction between government (bad) and business (good), so the complex nature of authority is dismissed.
