I really don’t get people who think that just praying for something is going to fix it. I know that the concept is a New Testament promise, but you’d think by now people would have figured out it doesn’t work.

Even though I’m not religious I understand the concept of praying as a meditation, praying to discover God’s will, praying to get yourself in harmony with things-as-they-are, and so forth. I just don’t understand why people think that God might be waiting for us to vote on whether we want drought, or someone’s cancer cured and then acts on it.
