This story sucks. Not because it’s inaccurate or shocking, but because it depresses me. I used to live in a City that accepted hundreds (maybe thousands) of Sudanese children (as opposed to Somalis) as part of a humanitarian movement. I used to love seeing the kids walking to and from school, always well-dressed and always respectful of the those around them, unlike the American kids who dressed like slobs and constantly stopped traffic by meandering across the street. People around me would say “Yeah, but wait until they get older and become criminals or terrorists…”.
It always pissed me off that they would assume that these kids would replicate the insanity and violence that they fled from. Apparently, in the case of these Somalis at least, the people I was disagreeing with have been proven right.
Damn shame, as well as being a major National Security nightmare.
