Guys up here like to run 0W-30 in their cars because even the 5W-30 is a bit too chunky when the temperature drops below -20.

When I was stationed up in Alaska, they showed us how at -40 pretty much everything (including syn. oil) pretty much turned into molasses at that temp. I remember putting the oil pan, transmission pan, battery and block heaters in for my winter up there.
