Having somebody run against Clinton and rant and rave about “corporate Democratic whores” is making Hillary more popular? There would have been more focus on the Democratic race if it had been functionally unopposed?

Could you expand on this line of thinking? I truly don’t understand what you’re getting at.

Bernie didn’t call her a whore. Jesus fucking christ. Some other speaker did use the phrase, but applying that quote to Bernie is just dishonest. She’s not going to lose the election over it, and it gives the twittersphere two days of herd outrage (well deserved, granted), but don’t say that it came from Bernie.
