Businesses make decisions that don’t affect others? Anyone remember BP oil spill in the Gulf? I’m pretty sure that was a business decision that screwed millions of people along the Gulf Coast.

Or that oil spill from a pipeline this past week that screwed a farmer when he found himself and his crop sinking into a oily mess of crude oil.

Or any of the natural gas pipeline explosions from past years.

Or tobacco companies that sold cancer sticks to the public and said it was good for them (and never mind the second hand smoke that affected people who weren’t even smokers).

Or planes that crash because of manufacturing defects.

Or cars that crash because of manufacturing defects - including victims who weren’t even driving at the time.

I could go on, but you get the point.

Those of us in California are still paying for the energy disaster Enron caused.
