There’s a lot of ‘allegedlys’ to the Goetz story. Also included in that story you’ll find that he had black and Hispanic friends, and he really did. It’s impossible to know what was in Goetz’s mind and how much race played a part, but I don’t think it was that much. I think he was being a vigilante, not a race-avenger.

There’s the part that it may have played in his head, and there’s the part that it may have played in his arrest, trial, and jury verdict. The latter is the more significant, but more difficult to present to PA as my ‘best evidence it was race’.
