re: #215 Ryan King

Don’t have a Bose home theater, but I swear by my QC-15 headphones at work. They’re large over the ear and do noise cancellation better than any of the others I’ve tried or used regularly. I used to use JVC or Sony NC headphones, but both weren’t fully over-the-ear and the cancellation effect wasn’t as good and the sound quality fell short.

Of course, the price was 3x as much. I use them everyday, so I am getting my money’s worth.

For the home theater, I have an older Sony 5.1 unit and speakers. They might be getting long in the tooth, but don’t expect to swap them anytime soon. They’ve still got good quality and are relatively unobtrusive.

A lot of people have been swayed to use sound systems that pump up the bass, which means that you’re getting a skewed sound. I’ve seen that in discussions about headphones particularly (Beats being particularly singled out in this regard). I like bass like the next person, but want a good overall sound. YMMV.
