About time for a post-mortem on Operation American Spring. It was a very good natural experiment in the birth and death of a nutcase fringe movement.

” The last day of boots on the ground in DC? 2.. freaking 2. Me and somone else. I just sat and cried. I’ve been miserable ever since. 7 people on July 4th showed up. That’s why I haven’t been able to continue. I am wore out trying to fight and make people take a stance. I lost friends, family members….for what? 2 BOOTS ON THE GROUND????? WE LEFT AND WENT TO A BAR.UNTIL RUSH HOUR WAS OVER. DISTGUSTED BEYOND BELIEF. MY LIFE HAS BEEN ON HOLD FOR HOW LONG NOW? MONEY SPENT GOING TO DC. FOR WHAT. I FELT SO GOOD ABOUT WHAT I WAS DOING. HAD NO TIME FOR FAMILY. WHAT DO I DO NOW????? NOBODY GETS IT.”

I believe there’s a book on a similar theme; it was called When Prophecies Fail.
