Palestinian Journalists: Death Toll Exaggerated

Three days ago Al Jazeera published a list of 209 children killed in Gaza. An analysis of the age and sex of these children (aged 18 and under) may shed light on the validity of the World Press view that that Israel killed these children presumably while innocently huddled at home with their families. If that were true, one would expect an even number of dead males and females. Of the 209 deaths, 59 were female and 150 were male. The odds of that distribution are less than one in a million if the likelihood of randomly killing a male was the same as killing a female. The analysis of 16-year old deaths shows 14 boys and 2 girls; 17-year olds shows 17 boys and 2 girls; 18 year-olds shows 19 males and 1 female. You can draw your own conclusions. The same analysis holds for yesterday’s Palestinian Center for Human Rights rundown of the numbers, with 1224 total deaths, including 280 children. Of the 944 adult deaths, only 111 were women, an exceedingly unlikely distribution if civilians were killed indiscriminately. These aberrations deserve some explanation before Israel is further pilloried for its wanton killing of innocent civilians.
