Nobody is saying the GOP is marching off of a cliff, never to be heard of again. What is being said is that the GOP is turning off younger voters and non-white voters more and more, and that as we move forward in time those demographics will become more and more important.

Indeed, demographically the GOP is living on borrowed time. They’ve so consolidated around their aging white base that it’s a matter of time before they become a regional party. Once Texas turns purple, it’s over for them as a national party. Without Texas’ electoral votes, they’ll never see the inside of the White House again.
