My county got an assault rifle.
We really could have used a Humvee instead to get around way off the backroads for search and rescue.

My county (Manhattan) got 4 armored vehicles… which they might actually have legitimate use for. We are Manhattan, after all, there’s always the chance major terrorists will be tried in our local courthouse.

San Bernardino County (CA), where I used to live… got 4 helicopters, a plane, a mine-resistant vehicle, 114 assault rifles and 208 night vision pieces. I’m going to give them the benefit of doubt, that maybe the aircraft got turned over to the Fire Department, that the night vision pieces are for S&R in the copious wilderness, and the assault rifles are just less expensive than buying whatever other kinds of rifles they’d have gotten from not-from-the-Pentagon.
