Kids and I are invited to a Hallowe’en party. One advantage of life in this part of Germany is that November 1st is a holiday, so we can party until we are purple and sleep in tomorrow.

And although Hallowe’en is mostly an artificial holiday here introduced by the US soldiers and Irish Pubs, there are a few isolated regions like the Hunsrück, which were not coincidentally areas inhabited by the ancient Celts, where it never died out and survived as Klumpennacht, where the kids dress up, carve turnip lanterns and go trick-or-treating.
