The pandemic will never officially end. It will just remain a slow-rolling horror until the announcement of a vaccine sometime next year, at which time people will act as though things are “solved” and resolve to return to “normal” at any even greater pace. You watch, by next Memorial Day, most states will have ended face mask and social distancing requirements because “the crisis has passed.”

In the current Scientific American magazine there is a doctor that was involved with the early stages of HIV research (along with Dr. Fauci). If you don’t have a subscription you prob can’t get the article online. But he lays out some dire possibilities about the current outlook for a vaccine. He is more of a believer that COVID-19 will need to have a powerful treatment for the disease rather than depending on a vaccine, just as had to be done for HIV.
