That’s one of the reasons my mother likes living in Chicago. Out her apartment back door is a Polish restaurant. Around the corner are a couple Korean and Thai restaurants. Across the street is a Mexican restaurant. A few blocks away there is a Czech restaurant.

She comes from the same tiny town in Michigan I do. (Funny how that works.) She ran into someone at the airport complaining that they liked coming to Chicago because that person lived in a small town (200,000 people). My mother noted our hometown (less than 200 people). He couldn’t imagine a town that small.

There were more people on the aircraft carriers I was stationed aboard than number of people in my county now.
