There’s basically two questions for picking a VP that make any sort of sense:

1. If something happens to me, who do I think is the next best person for the job?
2. If I win, who can I trust on policy matters that I’m not particularly well versed on?

Trump’s looking for someone to be a distraction and possibly take some bullets.
