Sir William Stephenson. Picked by Churchill as head of the SIS for North America. Posted to New York before America joined the war. Helped “Wild Bill” Donovan form the OSS. Prowled the docks of N.Y. assassinating German and Japanese spies. Personally pulled the trigger on a sniper job in Rockefeller Center that killed a Japanese spy, later fictionalized as “View to A Kill.”
