How is the blockade undermining civil society and/or strengthening Hamas?

Or, to put it another way, what would be the situation for Hamas, and for civil society in Gaza, without the blockade in place— and with any amount of material allowed to be delivered to Gaza?

I’d love a really full answer to this question - or rather a civil debate I suppose. Too early for it at the moment though and I’m definitely not qualified to answer.
