School systems should all provide free lunches for every child, regardless of ability to pay, and it should be in the school budget. No child should ever be humiliated by not receiving lunch because s/he can’t pay.

And for gawd’s sake, don’t serve them junk food. Most of them probably get enough of that elsewhere. Make nutrition an integral part of their learning experience. Take the soda machines out and let them drink water, milk or juice.

Most of that crap food and drink are contracts given to companies who know someone on the school board anyway.
