Bhumipol and the queen are almost worshiped as demi-gods in Thailand, but their son is a notorious playboy and not well liked at all, though few Thais would dare to say as much publicly. The government takes the lese majeste laws very seriously. When Bhumipol does leave this mortal plain, it will be very emotional time in Thailand. That may be partly why the military seized power, to keep things under control during the succession.
