Some clever writing there, but I found myself thinking how very much Ellison himself would hate it. The author kept referring to “sci-fi” and calling Ellison a “sci-fi writer”. Ellison hated that term so much. He said it might as well be pronounced “skiffy” and that it reduced science fiction to nothing but bug-eyed monsters menacing plucky space virgins. He once walked out pre-interview on, I believe, CNN just as he was being introduced as a “sci-fi” author.
