Good for the kids, but this really shouldn’t be something that they need to do, especially when they start taking literal incoming fire from gun nuts.

They shouldn’t have to, but they do have to.

Hence the “March for Our Lives.” It is very much a matter of life-and-death for students, and courage is being able to stand up and say “no farther” even if the risk is your own life.

I am sure they are quite aware of the difficulty: They have already forged a bond under fire (very much like a military formation).
