In my almost 68 years, Gorbachev was the only Russian leader that had his eye on the actual ball. I think he was a decent man. A Commie, but a decent Commie if there is such a thing.
But again, he failed to see the fatal flaw of Soviet-era Communism: its inability to undertake necessary changes and reforms. The rot was simply to deep.
