When you scratch under the surface, a lot of these folks really believe that women who are raped “asked for it” or “deserved it” somehow by being immoral, dressing sexy or somehow not being in tune with God. It is the Just World Theory fallacy. basically, good things tend to happen to good people who deserve it and bad things happen to bad people. See here from today’s headlines:
