I still write stuff for my band to play, but I don’t think anyone would confuse my stuff with the pops of either K or J. :)

Asian pop requires either a horde of cute teenage or 20-something girls dancing stock moves and singing some forgettable tune, or androgynous boy bands doing the same thing. That’s where the money is.

There are solo acts that are musically pretty good, aimed at older consumers. So, the music is generally MOR soft pop. Jay Chou (Canto-pop star) has worked in some R&B into his music, though.

Chou played Kato in that Seth Rogan travesty of a movie, BTW.
