A nice article on the annoying “5 million others” meme, which was basically a lie by Simon Wiesenthal (who often had problems with the truth):

The number isn’t a lie. There were roughly 3 million Russian P.O.W.s who were killed in camps. Plus another 1 million non-Jewish Poles. Then add in a quarter-million Romani plus a shit-load of Resistance fighters from various countries, including France. The Russians refused to sign the Geneva Accords, which means that they and the Germans treated each other’s prisoners of war like garbage.
