As far as some people are concerned, Satan is living next door to their church. “Logic” doesn’t enter into religious belief, which is why consistent polling shows atheists as less trusted than rapists and paedophiles, and why I was defeated in my election on a campaign of “do you want an atheist representing you on the village board?”

While folks go on about white Evangelicals being all-in for Trump in the last election, Pew Research showed that Christians of every denomination favoured Trump over Clinton, with the exception of Mormons (!), black Evangelicals, and Hispanic Catholics.

Atheists and agnostics overwhelmingly voted for Hillary Clinton, because Democrats are the Party of Satan or something.

Is the idea that if you lived two blocks away in a small town it wouldn’t be an insult? Or your very existence is the insult?
