The question, it seems to me, is not whether it was a smart move, rather, whether it was the responsible one to make as governor of a state, and I say yes.
Considering all factors, chiefly the nuisance suits she was constantly swatting, the attention taken away from executive duties that her family desperately needed thanks to the vultures, and numerous other distractions, only a narcissist would have insisted on remaining in office.
Her resignation may have had a political motivation… she may have lost the stomach for the fight… it may have been the money.. but at its heart, it was the responsibility to the people of Alaska that she upheld.
