That’s not too far off. The Portland back yard growers are talking about the same thing. Portland weed prices have always been dirt cheap since so many people around here grow their own. Some of the older growers still sell some of their surplus but the younger guys don’t bother since there’s not enough money in it. Just not worth the hassle. But soon large scale companies are going to drive down prices so much that it won’t be worth the effort for small scale individual growers.

The economics are going to be interesting to watch. I recall an old urban legend from when I lived up there near Portland; namely, Philip Morris had a patent design ready to go for a tailor-made joint with a filter, just like a regular cigarette, and even had gone so far as to create packaging for it, should marijuana become fully legal in the US.

I heard that well over 20 years ago, so that particular urban legend was likely floating around well before that.
