re: #225 Timothy Watson

I used to rag on Kaine, but I think he’s a lot more down to Earth and a lot less full of it than Warner is.

My problem with Warner is that he goes around touting his business success, which mostly stem from buying up cell phone frequencies back in the ’90s after he was responsible for drafting their regulatory framework. (Congress got so sicked of people squatting on frequencies they ended up changing the licensing system so that anyone who wanted a license to a frequency had to prove that he had the money to use it, but by then Warner had already cashed out.) He also goes around talking about his business experience and success while Governor, but no one will call him on that VITA monstrosity which he created.

A couple months ago he was on WTOP talking about the Veterans Administration scandal and he kept going about “data management” and other consultant babble until one of the hosts got sicked of it and said something similar to, “Senator, the problem isn’t ‘data management’ or whatever other technobabble you want to throw out. The problem is people weren’t doing their jobs. How are you going to fix that?”

Ahh fair enough and perfectly legitimate criticism of him. But yeah I like Kaine because I think he genuinely does care about people. I also like that he can speak Spanish. Kaine was the first person I voted for actually.
