I am appalled at the evidence exhibited in the FBI’s 2A image of classified documents on the carpeted floor at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago office and home.

It is here that I am reminded of the last words of Oscar Wilde in a brassy decorated Parisian hotel room as he lay dying while uttering in exasperation, “This wallpaper and I are fighting a duel to the death. Either it goes or I do.” He soon died.

The audacious and garish carpet of the Mar-a-Lago reminds of Wilde’s last sentiments.
