This may be nothing, it may be something. Chinese military is not necessarily know for their submarine technology or expertise, as common knowledge. Unless there’s some defense industry info to the contrary, I’d have to think this was more rookie submariner stuff than ‘pushing the limit’ aggressiveness.

Subic Bay is a large sub base so I’m sure any Chinese subs want to hang around there to ploy. Gonna have to read up on this stuff.

Military issues fascinate me enough, but after reading Blind Man’s Bluff about the history of American submarine history, I’m chronically intrigued. I’ve had a couple of instances flying into Oahu as a boomer or attack sub is running on the surface into Pearl… Honco Salute. Nothing like seeing quintessential ace of spades of American sea power gliding into port after a few months in the deep.
