Why do I get the strong feeling that precautions = gun?

Actually, not in most cases. Stranger rapes aren’t very common, and most women who raped are attacked by someone they have at least met and spent a short time with. That’s not a scenario where a gun is going to be useful.

There’s also the issue that alcohol doesn’t mix well with firearms.
