I read it in a profile of him, but I have no confirmation. The scuttlebutt is he met his first wife at law school. She excelled, got a cushy, high paying job. He almost washed out. When they divorced, she ended up paying him alimony or a lump sum payment — to get lost, I assume. Now he runs a blog, writes brainless books about picking up women, and annoys people in Twitter by being a jerk.

Clearly, my mistake was to marry a woman who was more poor than I was.
