Society For Creative Anachronism. Worldwide organization that promotes the teaching of history through real life reenactment. We learn or rediscover the skills of period artisans, cooks, leathersmiths, blacksmiths, woodworkers, et al, and create new works with those skills. We focus on mainly on 1000-1600CE but some groups I interact with go as far back as early Roman Empire.

The fighting is great fun but not truly period, I mean, how many times have you heard of a squad of Romans backed by Spartans trying to take a bridge held by Varangian Guards? However, the equipment we make and use can be very authentic to the period of our personas.
