When I was in London, January 1982, there had just been a huge snow storm. It was beautiful, but bothered the locals.
Set out a pot of water to put some moisture back in the air.

i was born in ‘82.
The winter of ‘87 was epic, i remember that one very very well.

We used to have very severe winters a few decades ago - but the severity dropped off, mild winters cool summers. We hovered a long time in the middle of climates, and we suffer when we have extremes - the infrastructure can’t cope. We don’t have bad weather (aside from scotland) enough to have a scandinavian style infrastructure to deal with it. We just have to shut down for a few days.
