The article says the programs name was/is Measurements of Earth Data for Environmental Analysis (MEDEA). Started in 1992 and ended in 2001. Restarted now. Would be interesting to look up the origin.

The acronyms that were proposed by (again, I think) Senator Nunn’s article were SERP and DERC (which stood for something like Defense Environmental Research C_____ something). I think SERP was the name of the program, and DERC was the name of the body that was to run it.

I have way too much high school debate memory in my head.

My interest is whetted, I will look for it.
