Ah, Chicago, the Windy City. Vote early, vote often. I got so jaded by the stories of corruption coming out of that slimehole that I find it more noteworthy when someone does something NOT corrupt.
Chicago isn’t a slimehole, its just the politics which are slimy. And despite that Chicago’s city government is ultimately functional, even if its corrupt. and that gives Chicago a critical advantage. The governmental problems in New Orleans prior to and during Hurricane Katrina, for example, saw corruption compounded by a mixture of sloth and incompetence which left the Crescent City unable to tighten up in a dire emergency.
