i just cant help playing up this being over 60 thing for all it’s worth

i dont know somehow i get a big thrill out of being certifiably old

I turned 66 last month and I am rather enjoying it. One advantage is that old age can serve as an all purpose excuse for anything and everything. Every mental lapse, forgotten detail, and brain fart can be blamed on advancing age. Well meaning but ill informed youngsters are often all too eager to accommodate.
When you’re 25, it’s “WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?! Are you on drugs or something?”
Now it’s, “There, there, it’s okay. Come sit by the fire and have some milk and cookies.”
