I am also of a certain age. I was haunted by “California Dreaming” and “Monday, Monday” since I first heard those songs, probably in the late ’60s early ’70s. (Though I have always hated the one that went “no one’s getting fat except mama cass,” even though I later heard that it was because she was the only one making money from performing when she joined.) I’ve hated his hat for a long time, and, while we’re on the topic of pointless things to hate, I also hated those tiny rectangle sunglasses that Roger McGuinn wore.

I’m much too young to remember those songs when they came out, but I can say that if I could get a ride in the TARDIS, I’d love to go back and be Cass Eliot’s groupie?
