Unfortunately it’s not really. Approximately one in three woman have had some sort of sexual assault occur to them in their lifetime. So maybe not to the extreme of rape but it’s more then likely that you know a very many woman who have had something happen to them.

You just don’t hear about it because it’s just not something that people bring up. I’ve even been shocked at the number of instances that people bring up when a group of woman get together and really start talking about it.

I know women who were inappropriately touched as children or at drunken parties, but not raped. I guess the women I know were just lucky, or maybe they just never told me.
In any case I have no wish to engage in any dissection of the sexual assault statistics, which I do know can be somewhat controversial.
