It’s long been my opinion that we have not seen evidence of alien intelligence because every advanced technological civilization self-destructs. But in any case, we are limited by our current level of knowledge on the workings of the universe and hubris is a common failing — assuming that what we currently believe is close to the ultimate truth rather than a flawed interpretation based on our primitive tools.

The Veritasium youtube video downstairs was a real shock to me and a revelation on how little I knew about infinite numbers. Had never seen anything like it.

I think similarly. Without compettiton, all animals will expand their populations until they either run out of food or their waste products destroy the habitat. We are in the process of dealing with the latter, I expect many intelligent civilizations fail to get through things like climate changes, etc and fail. Will we? Hope not.
